There is one part of the movie Ever After that I have remembered and have thought about in my daily life. The prince is talking with Leonardo DaVinci about finding the right girl to marry. He said something to the effect of, "What if the right girl comes along, but I miss her because I am distracted?" Leonardo DaVinci replied, "Well, learn to pay attention!" That simple command, "Pay Attention!" applies to so many areas of life. When I actually sat down and thought of all the things I try and pay attention to, the list kept growing and growing. Here is what I have thought of so far. Here is what I try and pay attention to (in no particular order):

*my blessings
*things I need to repent of
*my feelings
*other's feelings
*how I can serve or help others
*how others help me
*whisperings of the Holy Ghost
*what the prophets and church leaders say
*the news
*our finances
*how much electricty we are using
*what I am doing with my life and how I can do better
*my children - that's a big one in my life right now!
*my husband
*what I like in graphic design, home decorating, art, music, books, movies, food, and entertainment
*my gifts and talents and how I can improve them
*other's gifts and talents
*how the gospel blesses my life

I hope I am not missing any major ones in life. But man, there is a lot to pay attention to! No wonder I make so many mistakes!

I think another principle that goes along with that is being present in our lives. A lot of time we are distracted by future or past events and miss out on what is going on in the moment.
