One of my very favorite playgroup outings we do every year is a visit to the Oil Ranch. That place is just so much fun! You pay an entrance fee and you have unlimited access to pony rides, train rides, hayrides, barn swings, cow milking, petting zoos, and lots of cowboy stuff to play on. We usually stay all day. But it cracks me up. On the hayride, you get a little food pellet to feed the cows they drive you out to see. The driver stops the wagon and the cows surround it, begging for food. They aren't shy either. You come face to face with those big headed cows, and lots of kids and adults (me included) start screaming and squilling. It is so funny that all us "city kids" come out to this farm for a little taste of country life and we squill about coming close to a cow. I wonder what those real cowboys and cowgirls think of us wimpy city kids! Anyway, it doesn't matter what they think. We are getting a wonderful thrill! Actually, last year when we went on the wagon ride to feed the cows, Tanner wasn't intimidated at all. He stuck his whole hand right into the cows mouth to feed him the food pellet. Gross!
At the end of the day, you get to pick out a pumpkin. Last year, Kyle found one with his name on it, literally, it had his name on it. So we had to pick that one. I wonder when we go up there this year with their kindergarten class if he will find the perfect one again.

Look like so much fun! Has our ward's playgroup gone yet?
I'm glad my city kids can get a little taste of the country!
