My sister, Abbi, is in Romania working in an orphanage there and it has been so interesting to hear about her experiences in preparing for her trip and what it is like to work with the orphans. I remember talking to her about a comment one of her professors made about solving social problems. I couldn't really remember what the exact comment was so I asked her about it. This is her email to me in response. Here is to all the mothers out there who may feel we don't make that big of difference in society!

Hey Audge,
I just remembered that you emailed me a while ago asking me to tell you what my professor had said about the importance of mothers in solving the social ills of the world today. It was Renata Forste, the director of my London program and the head of the sociology department at BYU. In a private research meeting that included her, me, and another undergraduate student Heather S*, we were discussing about how discouraging it can be to study all the social problems of the world and how they are seemingly impossible to solve. When Heather said, "Renata, what can you do? What should we do?" She said, without skipping a beat, "Raise good kids." So, Audra, according to a doctorate in sociology whose whole life is dedicated to studying social problems and theories of how to fix them, YOU are solving the social ills of the world today! :) Way to go! Keep it up! I love you so much, and I pray that Heavenly Father will bless you during this especially hectic and stressful time of your life!
Love, Abbi
P.S. Thanks for keeping your blog up! I'm sorry you've had so many problems with it!!

Abbi is amazing and I know she is making a huge difference with the orphans in Romania. The hardest thing will be when she has to go home. I feel bad for all the kids when that time comes.
You keep the wonderful work up too, Abbi!

Thanks so much Audra!! Also, where did you get that picture? It looks like it came straight from the hospital we work at.

That's a good reminder. At this time in my life I am focused almost entirely on "raising good kids", and I look forward to the time David and I will be able to be more involved in humanitarian efforts throughout the world.
