Stretch Myself

I have always been unflexible, even playing sports in high school. And playing volleyball, basketball, and running track, if you weren't flexible, you were at higher risk for injuries. It's funny because throughout my athletic career, I only had one minor sprained ankle. But, when was it, a few months ago, I injured my back picking up Tanner (go figure!). My back has not been the same since and I am thinking that I need to start stretching myself. Even if it doesn't help my back at all, I am motivated to actually touch my toes when my legs are straight! I want to be flexible! This Grandma is going to motivate me to stretch every day - an early New Years goal of mine.

My Father-in-law has this picture in his physical therapy practise. Cute, don't you think!

I LOVE this photo! I know what you mean about back pain - there is nothing more incompasitating (sp?). I now have cronic back pain - a combination from running and bad back genes. Jay just read in JAMA that Yoga has been found to help with lower back pain - I REALLY need to invest in some tapes and see if it helps.

I love that picture. I had a roommate my freshman year of College that put up a poster with that picture on it. I hung in our kitchen/living room. Man those Heritage Halls apartments were small!!!

Oh to be that flexible! Alas, it is just not in our genes!

I've wanted to start doing yoga again. But even just a few stretches before bedtime can really make a difference. (Here is what you can do during your evenings!)
