No Surprises

Mike has a really hard time surprising me with any gift. I am the manager of this home and I know exactly what money is coming in and what money is going out! He can't make a credit card or debit card purchase without me finding out through our online banking. He can withdraw cash out of the ATM machine, but I will know how much he took. I monitor the emails, so if he purchases anything online, I will know what it is. If he really does want to surprise me with a gift, his best bet is to withdraw cash from our account. I will know he took the money, but I won't know what he used it for. He could also set up his own email account, but then his emails will sit in there for weeks before he checks them. Anyway, I guess this means I am a good manager of this home, but then I don't get too many surprises. Anyone else have a similar situation?

I too know where all the money goes in our house. So to surprise me Aaron will either tell me not to look at a certain billor open any packages if I'm not expecting them. Or he will be a guinea pig at Baylor and earn cash that I don't know about and surprise me. So even thought I keep a close watch on our finances, he somehow still surprises me.

That is the same thing here! :) I always have to know exactly where everything is going. But then again, I am nosey and I don't like surprises very much. If I know they are coming I go CRAZY! :)

I hear you loud and clear - nothing gets by me! Jay is also up a creek this year in that he is in the BT ER this december and will have a total of 2 shopping days off before the big day, so that really limits his chances...he better get on it!

I prefer knowing exactly what I am getting because it ensures I get exactly what I want!

Timm does the same thing as Aaron...tells me not to look at our online account and not to open packages when they come. It goes both ways though...he always checks our accounts too, so I can't get away with anything either! Last year for Christmas, we made a deal...he used one card and I used a different card for Christmas purchases and we weren't allowed to check the bill from the other person's card. It worked out great!
