Sew Sisters

Growing up we never went shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I guess my mom didn't want to face the crowds. I never knew there were such deals the day after Thanksgiving! Now that I know about the deals, it is hard to turn down, crowded mall or not. In fact, the lines out the door and the mad rush to get a parking spot is kind of exhilirating to me. Being part of the early morning madness is kind of fun if you have a friend to go with. I think it would just be stressful if you were on your own. But with a friend, it is an adventure! But this year I would not have gotten up so early if Jessi wasn't so excited about the 99 cents a yard flannel prints at JoAnns. Apparently she woke up every hour during the night, worrying that all the early morning shoppers were after the flannel prints! She was determined to be there when the doors opened and have a good selection of flannel prints and I was to be her companion! (I hope this is ok to share, Jessi:)) I was happy to be her companion! We were there when the doors opened and marched right to the flannel prints. We were on a mission to find our favorite prints to make baby blankets for baby gifts and for the Romanian orphans that Abbi has worked with. Tomorrow morning we will get together to have our first sewing session. I will sew with my sewing machine and she will sew with her new fabulous sewing machine (thanks mom for such wonderful gifts!). We can't wait for Abbi to join us on Dec. 14. Three sisters together sewing up a storm!

One of Jessi's four daughters didn't want her sister to play with her. She complained to Jessi to tell her sister to leave her alone. Jessi said something to the extent of, "Be nice to your sisters. Your sisters will be your best friends through life." It's the truth for us. Jessi, Abbi, and I are so close. We are so different yet so similar. We think, act, behave, and even talk alike. I will hear Jessi say something to her girls and think, "I say that too and I sound just like that." It is kind of wierd. We lived far away from each other for over seven years, but we say the same things. It has been so great to be close to her again. And we are both counting down the days for when Abbi can join us. It will be interesting to see how she adjusts to being back in the U.S. Her professors have told her that she will cry a lot and that she will be sad to be away from the kids she has worked with so much. As far as the crying goes, that's totally fine in our home! My boys are use to a woman crying. "Kyle, mom is crying again." Everything is fine. I just have cried a lot lately. I am so weepy! I do think it is the move. I miss my friends and being in such a familiar place. So Abbi will fit right in. We can cry together! And it will be so fun to talk to her about Chad. :) I love real life romance. Anyway, I am so lucky to have such amazing sisters. I will always love them and I will cherish this time together. See you tomorrow, Jessi. See you soon, Abbi!

Audra, thanks for visiting my blog, and let me just say that I love the day after Thanksgiving too. I missed out this year because there was really nothing on sale that I needed. But I always get a rush when I can get a super deal on something. Yeah for sisters! My sisters and I are just rediscovering each other, this Saturday I was honored to be my little sister's escort as she received her endowments in the Manti Temple, she is 38, I have been praying for 20 years that this would happen. It was an awesome day.

Audra, it just dawned on me that I know your sister! Jessi P* was in my freshman ward at BYU!!!! I don't know why I never put the two together until I saw a close up picture in this entry!!! Ask her if she remembers Emma R* from the BYU 46th ward!!! Crazy huh?
