Nicknames

When we decided to name our third boy, Tanner Jay, I imagined that we would call him TJ quite a bit. Mike is the king of nicknames. He will nickname people and won't even consider if they want to be called that or not. He shortens names or changes them in some way quite often. Any of you who know Mike, know what I am talking about! Anyway, I don't call people by nicknames very much, but I loved TJ and I thought I'd call him that a lot. Little did I know, Tanner would have a list of nicknames, TJ being one that we use the least! We call him T, Mr. T, T-Man, TT (although after my friend used the word TT to refer to going pee for her little boy, I have used it much less!), Nanner-Nanner, Nan, Tan, Tan-Man (added by Grandma P*), and the least appropriate, and therefore, the one used most in this home - Tooter-Tan! For the longest time, Kyle and Jordan would introduce their little brother to friends and complete strangers alike as Tooter-Tan. The strangers would look up at me with a look like, "is that really his name?"

I say that this name is the least appropriate, but considering how many toots I hear in this home full of boys, I guess it is very appropriate!
