Man vs. Wild

The show Man vs. Wild, on the Discovery Channel is a favorite in our home. It's this man named Bear, who gets dropped, usually by parachute, to some remote area and needs to survive and make it back to civilization. We've seen episodes where he parachutes into the Rockies, the Costa Rican Rainforest, the African Savannah, European Alps, and the Moab Dessert. He usually has a back pack with a water bottle, knife, cup, and flint. Let me tell you, this guy is amazing! Has anyone seen it also? It is so fun to watch what he does in crazy circumstances. Mike pretty much takes notes as he watches (he successfully made rope out of the vines from our woods - something he learned from Bear). And of course the boys are fascinated by the whole thing - eating live snakes, catching fish with his "Bear" hands, starting a fire with sticks, killing a bunny by throwing a stick at it, etc!

One thing my boys have learned is that worms and insects have lots of protein and are great for survival. Lets hope we never have to use those survival tips.

Tanner stuck this worm in his mouth, yes, on his tongue. I yelled, "No Tanner!" And he pulled it out, smiled big, and said, "I'm just tricking you mom. It's so dirty!"

The picture of Tanner is so funny and what he said is very cute. That show sounds interesting but we only get local stations.

We watch that show, too. In fact, it's the only show our whole family can watch together happily. We are all intrigued and can't imagine the things he's going to have to do that "trip". Emmy always gets grossed out at what he's willing to eat.
