About a month ago, I was released from my church calling to teach the 5-6 year olds in Primary (church program for 3-11 year olds). I had a class of all girls and I absolutely loved it! This particular group was so great. They weren't loud. They sat in their seats. They participated in the lessons. They were sooooo sweet. And I needed that! But sadly, it didn't last too long. I was released and called as Second Counselor in the Primary (over all the kids 3-11 years old). I do love this calling also. There is great satisfaction and fulfillment in teaching Heavenly Father's children. But it does wear me out! You need to be animated to keep their attention, quick to think of new things, and be flexible to do whatever is needed to be done. By the end of the day on Sunday, I am childrened out! I tell the boys, "I need a break. Leave me alone for a while." Most of the time they do. Jordan has even said, "Mom, I like it when you take a rest. Then we get to do our own things." Their "own things" sometimes are fine, and sometimes not so fine. But oh well. That's how things go. Anyway, I am grateful for my calling that challenges me to serve, learn, love, and teach.

my calling

What a cute picture. The girls are very diverse, which I think it great!! And what a great calling you have! Oh and I wish Brayden & Daxton would tell me they like when I take a rest because I feel I need to entertain them about 18/7, which tires me out!! I mean, I would think they could entertain themselves every now and then! Oh well...
I wonder how school teachers do it. I cannot imagine being around children ALL the time. Oh, wait. I am. You know what I mean though.
Hey we have the same calling now! Good luck. I am all "childrened out" as you said. And Timothy's not napping today and Aaron's at a meeting. What a mess!
You said it correctly - children are so important and so wonderful and so exhausting!! That's good that K&J will occasionally "do their own thing" and let you have a break. Congratulations on your new calling! You will be superb!
For sure.. about the cycle of Life!
I just got released from Primary 2nd Councelor. I had to write the fall programs and plan the quarterly activities, what a job! I wish we were close I could give you all my sharing time props etc.You always feel like you need to be a circus performer to keep it going. Good luck
That is the same calling I have too. We have a really small primary, So it doesn't make me feel all "childrened out." However after sacrament meeting trying to keep my kids quiet and still. That gets me all childrened out. I have decided primary is the best place to be. I would rather be there than in Relief Society anyday. I guess it shows my maturity level. :)
How funny that so many of us have the same calling@ After teaching a big boisterous class of CTR 6's, I was so grateful to get this calling! Although I do get nervous when I'm on for sharing time! I'm glad your boys let you rest!
