This doesn't happen all the time. Most of the time, you don't get to see if they use it or not. Of course they say their "thank yous" and "I really like it" phrases, but really, you just don't know.
I think one of the best gifts I have ever given is a flower necklace to my niece Lydia. Every time I see her, and it is quite often, she has it on. And it makes me happy. If she wears it that much, then she must like it! And Lydia, I must say that it looks great on you. But of course, you always look beautiful, flower necklace or not.
So anyway, it is kind of fun to think of the gifts you have given over the years and think about the ones you know that they really loved. There is great pleasure in giving the perfect gift!

I love when I know I picked something people will like. Especially when they're really hard to shop for.
She does LOVE her flower necklace. It was the perfect present for her. She wears it all the time.
And how about this for a gift idea: meatballs. Yesterday it was my friend Chaunette's birthday and I couldn't think of what to get her. Then it came to me...a ready-made dinner. Frozen homemade turkey meatballs w/ the BBQ sauce & grape jelly to make the sauce, a package of frozen corn, a couple cans of fruit, and some instant potatoes. If it were me, I would love a gift like this!
I agree. Your mom blogged about her Christmas decorations and I saw a gift I made for her. It made me happy to see that she really liked it.
yes, much better than seeing a Christmas gift you gave to a friend @ her garage sale!! i usually have so many disclaimers, explanations, etc. surrounding a gift that it would be very rewarding to know it was as beloved as yours appears to be on your niece! after all, it's not every day you get to buy a flower necklace & bring it home to your house:) as we're in the minority! anyway, i'd have to say that gifts are a large part of our spending (what's a budget?) 'cuz it's hard to find just the right thing in time, but so exciting when you do!
ya, I get so wrapped up (yes, pun)
in getting the "perfect gift"..rarely knowing how well it was received but I just have to remember how much I enjoyed the "giving" perhaps even more than how the receiver felt. I've had a few "hits" along with, (I'm sure,) many "misses",
