decorating tip of the day

One of the best decorating tips I have learned from my mom, my sister Jessi, and from Natalie is

Surround yourself with things that you love.

And there are times I have to remember that the "things" I love in my home are not things but people. (Especially when they "redecorate" a room I just got the way I like it.)

Well if if the pictures of your home are a reflection of that principle, I want you to come decorate MY house in the things YOU love, because the pictures you have posted of your home look great, I love it!

Agreed. I'm done with stuff that is a "good deal" or "on sale." Only things I love.

This advice helped me a TON. "Oh, so I'm not decorating to try to be cute or talented or spiritual or whatever? I'm just decorating to surround myself with things I love? OOH, I can do that!" :)

Also, I forgot to tell you something when we were talking about financing decorating the other day. The comedian on our cruise was making fun of how girls will never tell you how much they spent when they go shopping--they will only tell you how much they "saved." He was making fun of that and saying how they did not SAVE money, they SPENT it. And then he said, "So guys--you go out there and buy whatever you want! If you want a car, go buy it, and then when you get home, just say, 'Oh don't worry, honey, I wanted to buy a jet, but I only got this car. I saved 6 BILLION DOLLARS!" Hahaha. I thought that was so funny. Try using that on Mike. :)
