I really appreciate your lovely display of colorful books in the children's section. I have found some great books off those shelves and the display makes the library beautiful. But please don't glare at me when my little boy is drawn right to those books, reaches for one, and then knocks them all over because of his four year old fine motor skills. Because, really, what did you expect? That's what children do.

a faithful patron

Dear Faithful Patron,
Thank you for your letter dated October 10, 2008 and your recent visit to my library. To answer your question, I expect parents to watch over their children while in the public library. I expect parents to realize that their four year olds fine motor skills are not up to par and they would assit their 4 year old when reaching for the book. We have to provide books for all ages and while we attempt to do this, we can not meet the needs of all ages at one time.
Please do not take offense at my glare. I had a bad day and at librarian training school, they teach us to peer over our glasses and glare when we hear noises or we come upon a clutter. Perhaps your complaint should be sent to the librarian training school. If you need their address, I will be happy to give it to you.
I hope my letter addressed your concerns appropriately and I look forward to your next visit to the library . . . without your four year old.

Lol! You crack me up!
You always say things just right!
Yes, the books are for the kids, not the kids for the books!
