those who run together, stay together

I didn't tell you in the 5k post, but Mike and I weren't the only runners last Saturday morning. We ran the 5k, but Jessi (just 2 months post partum!), Dave, McKenna, Lydia, Kelsie (their friend), Kyle, and Jordan all ran a 2k. And I'm telling you - those who run together, stay together. It was such a great experience!

You want to know the results? Let's refer to the conversation I had with Abbi when she called after the race.

Abbi - "Hey Audge! Did you kick some butt?"

Audra - "Yes! But not Mike's!"

Yeah, I have a whole new respect for Mike, the little punk. My husband is fast! With no recent exercising, he kicks out a 22 minute and 30 second 5k. What is that? A little over a 7 minute mile. Whatever.

I ask, "Mike, how do you run so fast?"

"It's my quarterhorse rump."

Good job, Mike. I'm proud of you.

And as for me, I reached my goal, so I'm happy. I wanted to get under 26 minutes and I got 25 minutes and 58 seconds. Phew, I made it!

But what I am really surprised about is my two boys. Kyle finished the 2k in 8 minutes and 30 seconds. Jordan came in about 9 minutes. Forget my husband, my competition is now with my seven year olds!

I must clarify that I said "booty," not "butt." :) But either way you say it, you kicked it, Audra! :) I wish we could have been there to join you guys, it looked like a ton of fun. Well done, everyone!

That looks like so much fun. You and your sister have inspired me to get off my "booty" and start to run again. If you can have four kids and be in great shape, I guess I can have two and be in ok shape.
