my grandpa, who I will see again

If you follow my blog, then you might remember this picture almost a year ago of my Grandpa H* and me when we visited Utah. This will be the last picture of us where we are both alive. He died last Tuesday night from a car accident. He was the pedestrian who was hit and it breaks my heart to think what happened to his body. I do however, believe that he didn't feel much pain. He died five hours after the accident. It has been such a shock to hear the news, but I have received great comfort and peace because I know there is life after death. I know the plan of happiness created by God and I will see my grandpa again. How do others endure a death in the family without this knoweldge? It would be too much sadness. Too much to bear. As for me and my family, we will miss our dad and grandpa, but at the funeral it will be more of a celebration of a wonderful life lived. I am off to Utah to honor him and his tremendous example he's set for all of his children.

I love you, Grandpa! And I will try, as you often encouraged all your grandchildren to, "be good for a change."

Look at those beautiful flowers he tended to every day. Gardening was his passion!

Audra, have a wonderful trip. It will be hard, but like you said, you should celebrate the good man that he was. Those are such wonderful pictures of him with the kids...how sweet!

What a way to go... that's terrible. But it looks like he raised more than a beautiful flower garden - he has left a beautiful legacy in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Audra- I am so sorry to hear about your Grandpa. Aren't we lucky for our knowledge of the life here after. I know it is still so hard when you lose someone suddenly, but it helps to know you will see him again. My thoughts and prayers are with your family this hard time in your lives.

I forgot to tell you thanks so much for posting those tulips. What a great gardener he was. Tulips are my favorite flower and those are beautiful.

That brought tears to my eyes. He was a great man!! And still is. You will always cherish those pictures Audra. Aren't you so glad you got them!??? If you have time while you are here, call me.
I am so sorry about what happened. :( But yes, knowing that we will be together after this life is so comforting. I don't know how others go through death without that knowledge.

Godspeed Grandpa H. Enjoy the celebration of who he was and all the lives he touched. My 88 year old grandpa always tells me to "be good for a change" too, a very endearing thing.

I am so sorry to hear what happened. My grandpa moved on last year... and it's hard, but like you said, a celebration. My heart is with you and your family right now. It's always a lot quicker journey here than we think!

So sorry but so sweet. I'm not ready for my grandparents to be gone yet, but they get older everyday. Glad you had such a great relationship with them.

Audra, I am so sorry. I remember how supportive you and Mike were to me when my grandpa died back when we were roommates. You two were a tremendous support. I wish I could return the favor. But enjoy being with your family and remembering your grandfather's legacy!
