This morning as I was running on the treadmill at the YMCA, I watched Good Morning America. Diane Sawyer interviewed a man who had performed research on a large population of children ( I can't remember how many, but large!), from kindergarten to high school. He researched their test scores in school and the factors that might influence children's test scores. His results were basically that it does not matter if a child watches a lot of TV, has a single parent or both parents, has a mom or dad that stay home and do not work outside the home, or if they visit museums and other "educational" attractions. He also "found" that the children's test scores were higher when a baby is born to a mother over the age of 30. Well.....he might be right that these things don't matter when you are solely looking at school test scores, but there is so much more to education than school test scores! It does matter to me that the boys don't sit and watch hours and hours of TV (they would, if I let them!), if Mike and I stay married, and if I stay home to teach and nuture my children. It matters to me that I don't put off having children for the sake of my career. I realized that what I am doing in my life right now all come down to that fact that these things do matter to me! So I am going to keep doing what I am doing and not listen to that man and his years of research. I have other sources of information and guidance that I believe are more accurate than him! I am thankful for that guidance.

I always have to roll my eyes at all these official reports and their "findings." You can manufacture data to support almost any theory, but for those seeking truth I can tell you where to find it.
