Weddings and romance have been on my mind since a close friend and two cousins are getting married within a few weeks of each other. I wish I could be at their weddings, but the distance and those plane tickets.....I am grateful for technology so at least I can see pictures!
My brain is wired a certain way so that I abslutely LOVE romance. I love how a woman's femininity and a man's masculinity come together and make a perfect pair. I thrive on reading books and watching movies with excellent love stories. Although I must say that my tastes are changing as I get older. When I was younger, I was very giddy and satisfied when the story ended when the man and woman finally expressed their love, or at least affection, for each other. The traditional romance story ends at that declaration of love, but now, after being married for seven years, when I watch or read stories that end at this point, I feel that they are ending right at the beginning! I want more! I wonder, so after being together for a long time, do they still feel strong passion and desire for each other? How do they work out their differences? How do they keep their romance strong? How do they treat each other after being together for years and years? I feel that an ultimate romance story can only be told at the end of a lifetime together.
But do not get me wrong. I am still captivated by beginning romances - the excitement, the passion, the thrill of new love. And the wedding! Oh, the wedding is such a wonderful celebration of commitment and loyalty and true love. What a time of happiness! We celebrate a wedding kind of like we celebrate a birth - a hope of a wonderful future, a wonderful life. So to my friend and family who are getting married - Congratulations! My thoughts and heart are with you at this marvelous time.
