So we know we need to get rid of that bat. Mike, being the wildlife man that he is, is thinking that he can probably take care of it himself. He was telling me his plans, which included, "I'll pick up some bat-be-gone from the store or something." Good luck, Mike, finding your "bat-be-gone"! If there is no product out there with that name, there should be, don't you think?:)
No, it's actually dangerous stuff messing with these bats. I don't know if we should just hire some professional to do it with the proper equipment. Anybody know any details about getting rid of a bat?

The only thing that comes to mind is uh... rabies. Don't bat's have rabies? Sorry I've never had any expierence with something like that. Bats creep me out. I'm sorry you have one! Dylan would probably think it was cool though. How about keeping it as your "pet bat" you could give him a name and call it good. :)
Oh yuck, seriously, yuck. Scary, Scary, Scary!! I wish you the best of luck. Just don't let it out!!!!!
The only thing that comes to my mind is the Office episode where Jim pretends he's turned into a vampire. Haha. Don't go turning into vampires now. But seriously, I'm sorry you have to go through this, especially really bad timing.
good luck with that... ya, scary!
I thought you just had to say "Shoo!" and it would go away. Where is it hiding? Maybe you could put a cup of ammonia where it is and it would leave because of the smell? This is a toughie!
I would definately hire someone pro to do it! You never know what kind of diseases these things have. Plus, they're just nasty! Get someone trained to take care of it, and lose the risk of someone getting hurt, or worse..it getting out!
My sister-in-law had a bat in her attic. They called the animal shelter I believe and they sent out someone to get it. They don't recommend you do it yourself. They like to take the bat and have it tested atleast here in Utah. I think it was a sheriff who actually came to their house and helped them. Good Luck!!!
have the boys scare it away with armpit farts!
I wouldn't mess around with this either. Last year, in the next suburb over a kid died from rabies. He was bitten by a bat during his sleep.
