Mike and I just joined a fitness gym. Yesterday I had my orientation and free session with one of the personal trainers. Here were some of his comments through the session:
one of the first questions he asked me - "how much weight do you want to lose?" Uh, I didn't mention anything about losing weight.
after weighing me - "Is that the most you've ever weighed?"
after measuring my percent body fat - "ya, that's a little high"
after I struggled to finish my last few crunches (I did mention I had a baby a few months ago!) - "Yah, I promised myself to never get out of shape. But you can get back into it!"
Ya big jerk! I majored in Fitness and Wellness Management. I know the ranges. I am not that bad! And I'm definitely not paying you to tell me I am fat and need to exercise. So forget it.
*Oh, and you may think that he is just doing his job. Well, he could do it a whole lot better. That is not how to motivate a woman!

Argh! I had an equally miserable experience at my gym! I was told that my body fat is on the high range and that I live a "sedendary" lifestyle. Never mind that I run daily, walk EVERYWHERE, and chase a toddler all day! When I questioned her, she said, "It's not like you operate a jack hammer for a living." Wha!!?? It's like they tear down your self esteem so you can pay them to build it back up. Whatever!
Ok, sorry for the rant...
Seriously? You need to let the mgmt know so that they can help him understand how to motivate people. Lame.
seriously, let';s get him! SO bad - the people who work at those places are so self-consumed it's amazing. such bad form.
I tried this free trial membership thing once at a gym. The trainer made me feel so disgusted with myself. Then he didn't even coach me good on the machines so I left and never went back.
That was uncalled for! What would they say if I went in there? I'm glad you realized he was a jerk, and that you are doing great!
That pseudo-trainer has been taught well in the doctrine of the world: you will never be acceptible until you are stick-thin; your worth depends totally on the condition and size of your body; I am superior to you because you do not meet the revered standard of the world. Gag me with a spoon!
From these other responses, it sounds like there is more than one pseudo-trainer out there! Please do not give them the time of day.
what a jerk! sorry! you are amazing and don't deserve that.
If he treats all women like that he won't be in business long. That's terrible. Good luck though!!! Hopefully there's someone there who respects womens bodies.
Wow Audra~
That really sucks! I haven't set foot in a gym forever! I don't wanna know what they'd say about me! I think you look awesome baby!!
Wow, ya that is really rude! I would have for sure said something... BUt you know me. :) I think you should say something at least to the management. DOn't let it get you down because you look DANG good for just having a baby!!!! Oh and you always look good anyway. You have always been in great shape! LOVE YA
I would be so angry if that happened to me. I agree with Jessica--he is LAME.
Good grief!!! What is wrong with those people out there. If I was you, Audra, I'd move somewhere else...like say, next to me! Don't put up with that kind of nonsense, wherever you are.
I found out his address, egged his house and then keyed his car.
I don't know about you, but I feel better.
Dumb, stupid, male "trainer", doo-doo head. GAH!
-kay, now I feel better.
I want to write him a letter and tell him he can't be rude to my little sister without some serious consequences.
(Does anyone have any ideas on what his consequences should be?! I'd suggest that we all gang up and go beat him up, but considering he is a personal trainer that may not be the best idea).
Obviously he doesn't have a wife. If so, she needs to slap him across the face! Get a clue, man!!!
He obviously doesn't have a life outside of the gym.
Oh, yes, I left out...You are hot!
