So the other night Mike and I had a hot date - a trip to the Melting Pot (restaurant that serves yummy fondue). We both get dressed up sort of nice. You know, the best you can do in 30 minutes after a day of going to the park, grocery shopping, and chasing the kids around. It wasn't anything fancy, but I still felt kinda cute. And then, surprise! Complimentary to our dinner is a photo they took of us and would email us the following day. Awesome. We are looking good and when was the last time Mike and I had a nice picture taken of us? I was feeling positive about this one.
And then the email came.
W - H - A - T?
Oh come on. Did I really look like that? Please tell me I didn't really look like that. Honestly, do I look like that?
I think it was the bad lighting.
Do you guys ever have bad lighting with your photos too?
Oh, and don't ask to see the picture. It's gone forever, never to be seen again. Obliterated from photo history, unable to stand as a witness that Mike and I are getting older and a wee bit chunkier. Hmmmm, maybe next time I shouldn't eat as many chocolate strawberries and cheesecake and brownie. Oh whatever, it was so worth it.

I can't imagine you taking a bad photo...you always look great! I would much rather be behind the camera shooting. I just haven't figured out how to pose for a picture where I don't look chuncky and I have a perfect smile. I heard you should stick out your chin but, I haven't mastered it. Oh, instead of cheese say "Thursday" but, none of it seems to work on me. LOL I think it makes it worse when you have cute kids sitting next to you in a picture...they just make us look bad! LOL
I so understand. Bad Angel is my problem. A bad angel can make my face looks like it has a couple of chins. Sorry your photo didn't come out.
Uhhhhhhh . . . your posting the picture.
And "thou shalt not lie."
You know you didn't delete that picture. You may not want to look at it again but you can either get the picture or the e-mail back. How are we to believe you that it is "bad light". Every picture that you have posted is very cute and always has "great light" so why should we believe you this time. We need to see the picture to "feel your pain."
This blog as a record of you and your family's life shouldn't only contain the "good" pictures. Your children and grandchildren are going to look back and say wow M and A always looked so perfect, they had "great lighting". :)
You can post the "troubling" times with the "good" times but you can't post the "bad light" pictures with all of the perfect pictures?
Post the picture.
We [with the exclusion of one] as Mormons aren't judgmental are we? So what difference does it make?
I agree, I want to see the photo Audra. Let us judge for ourselves, I can't imagine you looking bad... ever!
Nice try, John.
Angela, you are sweet. And you make me feel good because I am pretty sure you have seen me at my worst and you still flatter me!
Kelly, I think you are right. It was a bad angle, not the lighting. Or maybe it was both. And darn it, the bad lighting and bad angles seem to happen more and more often!
And Stacey, I agree. I feel much better behind the camera!
I'm serious. The picture is gone. It wasn't me who deleted it either. Mike did. It was that bad - he doesn't mess with pictures.
Oh man, I was hoping to see the picture! I am sure you looked beautiful - you always do. I think it is great that Mike deleted the picture!
I KNOW you still have that picture somewhere. And, yes, we all want to see it because none of us can imagine you un-beautiful or un-gorgeous.
And I disagree with John, I am judgmental.
You are so funny!! Great post! I loved it. :) You know what though Audra, I am sure you looked great anyways!! You couldn't get chunky. You are freaking HOT and skinny!! So please stop right this second and post the darn thing!!! :) HAHA I am sure you have the picture somewhere... come on Audra!
ALl in all, at least you had a wonderful night out!! :) That is what counts!
Hahaha. It's so true! The worst is when you think you're looking great and then the picture turns out bad! It's not nearly as bad when you expect it to be unflattering. And just so you know, my mental image of you and Mike is of a skinny winny girl and a muscular guy. And I'm pretty sure I'm always right! :)
Blame it all on the light and the angle. You and Mike were actually sitting there looking wonderful, and the light an angle conspired against you. It happens. No big deal.
I almost cried on the way home from the hospital today after scrolling through the pics David took of me. Let's just say I understand how you feel.
Here is my advise: Just wait a few years and you'll say, wow , that wasn't too bad. EVERY PICTURE I see of me makes me wanna cry. I have this mental picture of what I THINK I look like than WHAM.. REALITY CHECK. I try not to look at pictures of me. Who wants to be that depressed all the time?
