my Grandpa and fresh fruit

My Grandpa looks like a movie star in this photograph, but he wasn't a movie star, he was a fruit farmer in Orem, Utah. He died before Kyle and Jordan were born and I have to go back many years before that to remember what he was really like, the pre-stroke days. It is hard to remember because I was young and we lived in another state. We'd see him once a year during our annual trip to Utah from Oregon. But what I do remember is full of warmth, and love, and fun, and laughter. If I had one more day with him, I'd pick fruit with him in his orchards. He'd saddle up his horses and he'd take my children on horsey rides up and down the lane to his barn. We'd have a delicious pot luck dinner with the whole Pyne family under the cherry trees. Then we'd sit on his back porch and relax while the little ones, my children and my cousin's children, would play in the irrigation ditch and snitch berries in the garden. It would be a glorious day. How I miss him and his fruit farm! I have decided to decorate my kitchen in a way that really reminds me of him and his fresh fruit. As a little girl, I didn't know I had it so good. Now, as a big girl, I know how good I had it. And surrounding myself with decorations with the theme of fresh fruit makes me very happy.

What a perfect tribute. I was so blessed to spend so much time with him in the orchards. I always chose to do outdoor chores instead of the indoor ones. We have some amazing video's of Dad, pre-stroke and to hear his vibrant voice and see his joyful self is heart warming.

By the way, Audra, you went above and beyond with "Stanley" Adyson was the star in her class!

So many happy memories at Grandma & Grandpa's house!!! It would be nice to be able to take our kids into that world for a while. And to be able to talk to Grandma and Grandpa again. Reading this made me realy miss them.

I miss Grandpa and Grandma. I loved going into the orchard when we'd visit them. But I was always afraid of Babe. He chased me out almost every time! I don't know why that horse didn't like me.

That brought tears to my eyes too Audra. I would give anything to have him see all the great grandchildren now. He loved having 100% at every function didn't he? And yes, we were so spoiled having such beautiful fruit from his orchards. It's just not the same anymore. What a nice tribute!!

Thank you for these wonderful memories! I can just see it all now.....except your kids are the little ones running around instead of you. Maybe we can have that day sometime in the future. You just never know!

Life used to be so simple. Why is it so crazy now? What a way to remember back on those carefree days.
